Music of Pi

Music of Pi is music inspired by or generated using the digits of pi or other calculations involving pi. There have been a number of different approaches to encoding the digits of pi into music, and this page explores some of those.

My Music of Pi

Forty-Four Slices of Pi ©1998 by Paul A. Gusmorino 3rd

This is a short piece I wrote based on the digits of pi that uses the twelve-tone scale. I calculated 44 digits of pi in base 12, and then assigned each digit value to a different note (ie. 1=A, 2=A#, 3=B, ... 12=G#). I hope you enjoy it.

Other Music of Pi

Music of Circular Constant is a web site that contains two short pieces based on the digits of pi. One uses the seven unaccented notes in the scale, and another uses the pentatonic scale.
